5 Ways To Think Positively During a Major Life Crisis

nsrw1

Sometimes it’s hard to look on the bright side even when things are going fairly well. When you’re going through a major life crisis, having the “glass is half full” mentality can be a feat in itself!

Don’t Get Overwhelmed

When you’re in the middle of a stressful situation, it’s important to disallow over-anxious and over-analyzed thoughts. You really don’t want to overwhelm yourself with an over-stimulated mind because the added stress will only strain your mind further and you’ll find it nearly impossible to think positively.

Ways To Look On The Bright Side

How you go about transforming difficult situations into positive outcomes will differ each time. Your goal should be to discover a set of strategies that works well for you. It might take some experimenting, but that’s okay!

Consider the following ways to achieve a positive mindset:

  1. Avoid feeling sorry for yourself. Feeling sorry for yourself only wastes precious brainpower and it’s not going to help you out in the long run. Instead, strive to gain the wisdom to accept your situation and focus on solutions, instead of sorrow or worry. Everyone has to travel through tough times at some point; it’s just a part of life!
  1. Find the life lesson. It may be hard to find the silver lining, but it’s almost always hiding somewhere. All of your experiences – both good and bad – contribute to your life’s knowledge. Be thankful for what you know!

Reflect on the fact that you’ve gained wisdom and knowledge that may help you make better decisions and cope well in the future.

  1. Start small. Take some time to reflect on the difficult situation. If you’re having trouble finding a positive manner of thinking, just start by smiling at yourself in the mirror. You might not feel happy right away, but it sure will be hard not to feel happy when you see a beautiful smiling face staring back at you!

You can also consider the use of positive affirmations to help you through tough times. The more frequently you repeat your affirmations, the sooner you’ll ingrain the positive beliefs into your subconscious.

  1. Stop worrying. When you’re going through a tough situation, sometimes your worries can overtake you. The future might seem scary and bleak and you’re not sure what you should do. As you know, worrying isn’t going to help the situation in the least. Instead, the moment worry creeps in, redirect your mind onto something positive or reassuring.

Stay calm and start brainstorming some practical solutions.

  1. Be brave about change. Change is inevitable and most often you don’t even notice that it’s happening. During tough times, however, you’re likely more sensitive to the changes that are taking place.

Think about change as an exciting adventure. You’ll never know what you can discover and learn until you’re open to change.

Help From Others

When you’re going through a tough time, your instincts might be to pull inward. Perhaps you don’t want people to see you in a vulnerable state or you want to solve your problems all on your own. However, you must resist this urge to shut people out! Remember, you’re never alone. Your family and loved ones are always there to help you get through any challenging situation, but only if you allow them to!

Of course, your loved ones may not be able to solve your problem outright, but they can provide you with a fantastic support system and help you brainstorm different avenues for problem solving.

As hard as it may seem now, it is possible for you to think positively when you’re enduring tough times. Use these simple positive thinking strategies to help you change your mindset quicker than you ever thought possible!

Follow These 5 Simple Steps to Live Your Life Without Regrets This Year!

nsrw3

While you can’t completely eliminate all regret in your life, you can take these 5 simple steps to live your life without regrets and thrive in the New Year.

It’s hard to keep regret out of your life but it’s not impossible.  No matter where you find yourself today, there’s a chance that you’ll have certain things you wish you did differently.  But moving forward, there are ways to live your life without regrets. When you strive to look at your situation with a different perspective, you’ll gain a better understanding about life and you’ll learn to live without regret.

While you won’t be able to completely eliminate regret in your life, you can take steps to reduce it. Strive to keep your life organized and live your life your way.

Step 1. Establish Your Priorities

One way to begin living without regret is to sort out your priorities. Ask yourself what ultimate goal you’re working towards. Are you happy with where you are and where you’re going? If you’re living your life according to plan and you’re happy, then you have nothing to regret.

If changes need to be made, taking small steps may be of help to you. Once you’ve made decisions that you’re comfortable with, you may feel as if a weight has been lifted from your shoulders. This is regret leaving your life!

Step 2. Live By the Golden Rule

Everyone can benefit by living his or her life with the golden rule in mind. The golden rule is known in all of the world’s religions. It’s special because it’s a concept that we can all agree on, despite our differences.

Simply stated, the golden rule is: “Treat people the way you’d like to be treated.” If you do this, you’ll definitely keep your regrets to a minimum. You’ll be learning how to treat people with kindness no matter what. You’ll be learning how to treat people fairly and you’ll gain empathy. When you put yourself in someone else’s shoes before you act, you’ll be less likely to engage in an act that you’ll regret later.

Step 3. Take Swift Action

The next step is to take swift action in your life. You only have one life and the time is now. If your goals are clear and you know what you want, what are you waiting for? A common regret for many women is not doing the things that are truly important to them. You need to do these things instead of putting them off until tomorrow!

Have you always wanted to start your own business? Start one! Would you like to get back in touch with your father? Do it! Yes, it’s difficult, yet it’s also simple once you’ve made the commitment to act.

Step 4. Spend Time with Loved Ones

Spend all the time you can with your loved ones. If they live far away, visit when you can and call often.

Make time for your immediate family by scheduling dinners together or family nights out. Delve deep into the relationships you have with your family. A common regret is sticking to surface topics when it comes to your family. Find out the hopes, fears and even regrets of your family members. Sharing your regrets can be another way of coming to a resolution!

Step 5. Forget Regret

Ultimately, it always comes down to the fact that you can’t change the past no matter how hard you try, nor how often you think about it. All you can do is take action now to change what happens in the future.

Regret clouds our current thinking and stands in the way of a happy future. But you have the power to blast through regret and move forward with your life!

The Four Top Stressful Life Changes, and How to Deal with Them

Shocked_WomanBeing a woman in inherently stressful. Because of how we are hardwired, we are more likely to put stress on ourselves and to take on activities and tasks that cause us stress.

No matter how well equipped you are to handle a hectic and stressful lifestyle, there are some life changes that will cause you stress and can even seriously damage your ability to continue living your life in a positive and constructive manner.

Some women ignore the stress caused by these life changes, believing that it will eventually dissipate on its own.

Others try to deal with it in unhealthy ways, like taking comfort in junk food or shutting down their lives and hiding until it “passes.”

Most of us know, however, that things do not go away just because we will them to. That’s not how life works.

That doesn’t make it any more tempting to just try to hide from the really difficult things. There are healthy ways to deal with life’s more stressful changes.

Here are the four most disrupting life changes and how to handle them so that they do not take over your life:

  1. Death in the family or friend circle. No matter your personal beliefs about the afterlife, losing someone that you love can be extremely difficult. Even if you believe that you will get to see them again in another life, losing their presence here in this time is heartbreaking. You miss the spirit they brought into your life. Because of the finality of death and the huge change that it brings about, it can cause serious stress. Not only are you in mourning, you will also have to deal with the very real change that is happening.

The best way to deal with the stress of losing a loved one in death is to allow yourself to gradually progress through the  stages of grieving. Realizing, understanding, and accepting that death is a painful part of the cycle of life as we know it at the moment is the best way to gradually move forward.   Rely on family and friends to help you through this difficult time or find other outlets for stress management.

  1. A divorce. Even if you intellectually understand that divorce is the best option in your situation, a divorce can be extremely stressful, and not just because it signifies the breakup of what was once a fulfilling and valuable relationship. There will be meetings with lawyers and mediations and maybe even court appearances, depending on how heated the divorce becomes. The clerical parts of divorce, meshed with the very real emotions can make this an extremely stressful period of your life.

Give yourself some time and some space to understand the enormity of what is happening and to compartmentalize it. Try to let go of the things that are beyond your control and get in control of the things that you can control.

  1. Illness—yourself or family members. Discovering that you have a major illness can be extremely stressful, whether it is something that is easily treatable and manageable or something that cannot be cured. Some find themselves slipping into a depression, caused by this major change. Do not let illness be compounded by stress and depression.

The best way to deal with the stress of an illness is to build a treatment plan. Discussing with your doctor the best way to mitigate the effects of the disease will give you peace of mind. Knowing and having something to work on is always better than not knowing. Consider reading some self-help books that are rich with stress management techniques.

  1. Losing a job or changing careers. Not just because it can put a strain on your finances, losing a job or changing careers later in life can add undue stress to your life, whether that stress is about money, stability, or how to function in a new career. As women, we may even take the stress of a partner’s job loss or career change onto ourselves, trying to help them bear the burden but in reality just incapacitating ourselves.

The best way to deal with the stress of job loss or a career change is to set up a specific plan, whether it is to search for and find a new job or to improve and become competent in your new career, or find new ways to make money.  Making and sticking to a plan for personal growth will calm your mind about the fears of this major life change.

Do You Need Vitamin B-12 For Energy?

Vitamins can help your health in many ways and some can provide that boost of energy you need to accomplish more during the day when you need it.

Vitamin B-12 is a good supplemental choice for those who are suffering from an excessive loss of energy, memory problems and mood changes. Many women lack Vitamin B-12 no matter how well they plan their diet.

Long-term, taking Vitamin B-12 for energy can help you renew red blood cells and help convert the food you eat into energy that can boost your metabolism. Your health care provider can perform a simple blood test to see if you’re lacking in Vitamin B-12 and determine how much you need to take to make a difference in your energy level.

There are many reasons why you may need to take certain vitamins to boost your energy level. One is if you’re taking certain medications that might zap your Vitamin B-12 levels. My sister is currently undergoing cancer treatments and her doctor prescribed B-12 vitamins.

To determine the types of supplemental vitamins you should be taking for energy, you should consult with your health care professional. Going through menopause, stressful experiences, athletic endeavors and a number of other lifestyle issues might make a difference in which vitamin you should be taking to restore the energy levels you once had. Take steps today to get the vitamins you need to be healthy!

New Year Resolutions Tips For Success: Form a Routine

When you start anything new, you should take baby steps.  It’s one of the main new year resolutions tips for success. The reason you want to take baby steps at first is because once you form a new routine, it’s actually easy to hold yourself to it. Some say that it takes as little as two weeks to get a new routine engrained in your brain.

For example, in the weight loss scenario, starting an exercise routine can be especially grueling if you’re out of shape. The first two days can leave you tired, sore, and weak. That doesn’t sound like fun at all! However, those first two days are the worst you’ll endure. After your routine is built, you may find that you look forward to your exercise sessions.

In the eating healthier scenario, the first few days driving by the fast food restaurant without stopping may test you self-control and determination.  But once your taste buds and your body gets accustomed to the nourishing and nutritious fruits, grains and veggies you start feeding it, you won’t look back!  You’ll be thrilled with the healthier, happier, stress-resistant, new YOU!

New Year Resolutions Tips For Success: Take Action!

There’s a reason why most people give up on their New Year’s resolutions. It’s because they’re big on dreams, but little on action. This is one of the important new year resolutions tips for success: just like most things in life, you shouldn’t decide to undertake major lifestyle changes on a whim.

Taking action is usually where people tend to run into some trouble. It’s easy to get pumped up about an idea, but when it comes down to executing your plan, you might be tempted to fall short.

In this situation, you only need to muster up the energy to start. Tell yourself that you’re going to stick to your new plan for one week and then evaluate how it went. On the other hand, if you take everything in all at once, you’ll be less likely to begin in the first place. If it looks overwhelming, just focus on the short term.

In the comments below, tell us:

1. What short term steps can you take this week to reduce stress?
2. What reward can you give yourself for taking action this week?
