I know that laughter works as a natural stress relief method, but until recently, I was not sure why.  I read an article that explained how laughter increases the release of the “feel good” chemical known as endorphin, which promotes a feeling of happiness.

Another article I read pointed out that the flow of oxygen in the blood increases during laughter.  In addition, arteries relax, and the heart rate and blood temperature are lowered.  But that’s not all. There is evidence shows that during laughter the circulation increases and the skin temperature rises.   Separately, these physical response may not be impressive, but when combined all of these physical responses have a beneficial effect on both cardiovascular and respiratory health.

By now you should be convinced that laughter is good for you.  It has the potential to help speed healing, and increase overall health and well-being, which makes it one of the best natural stress relief methods ever.  Best of all, laughter is FREE and has no side effects.

When was the last time you enjoyed some hearty laughter?  The kind of laughter that brings tears to your eyes. Full belly laughter, is an involuntary response of the human brain.  The best way to get that kind of stress relieving laughter is to watch comedies, listen to comedians, tell jokes or just participate in fun and silly activities.  Laughter is the BEST stress relief medicine!

The Benefits Of Laughter For Natural Stress Relief

There is enough evidence to convince anyone that stress has a negative effect on your health.  But would you believe that laughter is a good natural stress relief solution?

Apparently, laughter has many positive health benefits, which can counteract the negative effects of the stress response.   I don’t know about you, but whenever I am having a bad day, chatting and laughing with a trusted friend always makes me feel better.  So there has got to be some validity to the old saying “Laughter is the best medicine”.

From what I have read, it seems that laughter increases the functioning of the immune system.  Anything that boosts the immune system helps the body to fight off illness and disease.   Stress on the other hand, weakens the immune system, thereby making you more vulnerable to stress.   Several studies have shown that laughter increases the production of endorphins. These chemicals are known as the “feel good” chemicals, because they increase feelings of happiness and well-being when released into the blood.
