Master This One Shopping Habit To Avoid Financial Stress Later

Corbis-42-53305140

Do you know how to enjoy higher quality products on a budget?  It’s easier than you think! All it takes is a little insight into where to look, what items are worth the extra cost and when to incorporate them.

If you are looking for ways to avoid financial stress and  manage your money effectively, you may be convinced that shopping at dollar stores and browsing the discount rack at “regular” stores are your only option.  Nothing could be farther from the truth. Actually, buying fewer and better items may be a superior financial strategy. You can be frugal and still enjoy higher end products and services that enhance your health and well-being.

Benefits of Buyer Higher Quality Products

  1. Minimize and reduce stress. The material things you love can create headaches and frustration when they break down and need repairs. A brand name tablet may function better and last longer than the obscure model that’s on sale.  That means LESS stress, irritation and frustration for you!
  2. Helps you save time. Think about it for a moment. When you have fewer belongings, you will spend less time cleaning, maintaining, and fixing them. You can even vacuum and dust your house faster because the clutter is gone.  That alone is a HUGE benefit for me!  :-)
  3. Results in LESS waste.  I don’t know about you, but for me I take comfort and pride in knowing that what I do as a consumer has a positive impact on “mother earth”. Goods that are manufactured to stricter standards often use materials and processes that are eco-friendly. You’ll also be dumping less stuff into landfills, and making this planet a better place for us and generations to come.  That ranks high on my list too!
  4. Makes you feel more confident. I never follow trends. For me, its more important to develop my own personal style instead of blindly following the latest trends. And it saves me a LOT of money too! I choose items that suit my lifestyle and sense of taste.  If you want to manage our money properly and avoid unecessary financial stress, you need to learn to do the same. You’ll be content with your ballerina flats until they wear out, even if celebrities ( or your colleagues, neighbor, or best -friend) are wearing stiletto heels this season.

Check out these places to find Higher Quality

  1.  Invest in yourself. The money you spend investing in yourself through education, training and coaching could be your wisest investment. I consider myself a life student, always interested in learning, and investing in improving myself and my skills. A practical stress management course and personal coaching may pay for itself many times over if it helps you live the stress-resilient, happy life you deserve and avoid further financial, physical and emotional challenges.
  2. Improve the beauty of your home. This may seem like an odd piece of advice, but its best to shop for used furniture and accessories. I have discovered that used furniture is often better made than contemporary pieces, and cost far less.  They just don’t make things like they used to anymore, so I stretch my dollars by shopping for used furniture whenever I can.  That does not mean you should buy stuff that is no loner any good.  LOTS of used furniture is still in TOP condition because the previous owner bought high quality stuff and took very good care of it.  Those are the types of used furniture you need to keep you eye out for.
  3. Take good care of your car.  After my house, my car is my biggest expense. Here too, I choose to be a good used car. But depending on your situation, a reliable vehicle with good gas mileage may be a better bargain than sinking more money into your old car that’s constantly breaking down. In some parts of the world, employer subsidies might make public transportation cheaper than driving.  If that applies to you, GREAT!  In my neck of the woods, a car is essential.  So I buy a good used car and take extra good care of it by getting an oil change and tune-up every 4 months.
  4. Schedule a medical check-up regularly. It’s common for women to cut back on medical care when money is tight, but that can backfire. Managing chronic conditions and treating new symptoms promptly could help you avoid a more costly hospital stay or other major procedure.  I schedule bi-annual check-ups with my natural health doctor, since I am very much in to natural and alternative remedies.  That help me stay on track health wise and nip a problem in the bud before it gets out of hand, if anything is detected.  My grandmother always used to say: “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.  That 100% true when it comes to your health.
  5. Buy, prepare and eat nutritious food. You’ve probably heard about corn subsidies that enable low prices on junk food. Healthier food is worth the higher prices to lower your medical expenses and keep you and your family healthy.  One of the best ways to build a stress-resilient body is to eat nutritious food!
  6. Gift your wardrobe a facelift. Do you have a closet full of dresses and suits that you regret buying? You can give them a facelift or a new breath of life by combining them with something new.  Try putting together a new wardrobe with a limited number of versatile garments you love. Calculate the best buys by thinking in terms of cost per wearing.  If you mix and match in a creative way, you’ll be surprised at how gorgeous you look in your “new creations”.
  7. Make time to enjoy your leisure.  if money is tight and oyu cannot afford the sky high prices for sporting events and amusement parks, I have GOOD news!  There are many enriching free or low-cost activities. Visit the library to read a classic novel or play each week. Sign up for modern dance classes or gourmet cooking lessons. Try photography classes, or backyard camping. Even backyard bird watching can turn out to be a really pleasurable, relaxing and enjoyable way to spend your leisure time without breaking your budget.
  8. Treat Yourself To A Vacation.  Weekend getaways are awesome! Smaller and more frequent getaways always give me more pleasure than taking one grand vacation that leaves me feeling exhausted and overwhelmed.  of course, if you have kids and they have to be in school, then this might be more difficult for you. Research destinations that you can visit for a day trip or long weekend.  Then treat yourself to a weekend vacation regularly.
  9. Prove Your Generate By Giving to Charity. Consider providing support the way major foundations and philanthropists do it. Give larger amounts of money to fewer causes to have a greater impact.

Pay more attention to value rather than price tags. Owning fewer items of better quality can make you healthier, happier, and more productive.  And isn’t that what we all want?

Love On A Budget! 15 Cheap Ways To Romance Your Husband

valentine-618567_1280

Is it possible to show your love on a tight budget? Yes, it is. I’ll tell you how!

Since Valentine’s day is just around the corner, most folks are gearing up for a spending frenzy.  If money is tight for you, don’t despair.  There are lots of low-cost and cheap ways to romance your husband and show you love on a budget.  And not just on Valentine’s day, but every day of the year.

Try these low-cost tips to show your loved one how much you care:

  1. Plan & prepare for a romantic dinner at home, then  go out for drinks and dessert.  There’s nothing more romantic, then a home-made candle-lit dinner for two.  So you can skip the hassle of  reservations and forego the high cost of a meal on the town. Instead, I guarantee that your special one will enjoy a home-cooked, delicious,  romantic meal at home a LOT more. After dinner, top off the night by going out to a nice bar for dessert.
  2. Choose an alternative flower instead of roses. Retailers know when to increases prices to maximize sales.  That is why roses cost a small fortune on Valentine’s Day. It’s a matter of supply and demand. So instead of being suckered into buying expensive roses, you can find another flower your significant will love just as much.  You may be surprised to know that many women DON’T like roses.  Ask about her favorite flower.  Chances are it’s a much more cost-effective flower than a rose.
  3. Cuddle on the couch with a few romantic movies .  This is where google can be your best friend. It’s easy to find a list of romantic movies.  Just google it.  You don’t even have to get dressed up. The popcorn is less expensive at home, too. You can even talk during the movie.  What could be better than spending one-on-one time with your significant other, cuddled on the couch, enjoying a romantic movie?  Just do this at least once a month , all year long and watch your relationship go from OK to Amazing!
  4.  Spend a night ( or a weekend) at a local hotel in lieu of a trip. Save on traveling expenses and visit a local hotel for the night. Consider finding one with a tub for two.
  5.  Organize a picnic.   If you live in a warm area an outdoor picnic would ofcourse be perfect, but in many colder areas, it may be  a little cold for an outdoor picnic in February. Here’s an easy solution: Clear out a space on the living room floor and have your picnic inside. Anything is possible.  Love always wins!!
  6.  Find free or inexpensive entertainment. You can find quality entertainment on the cheap. Museums, local theater companies, art galleries, and food and wine tastings can all be both entertaining and inexpensive.
  7. Cut expenses by using a coupon.  Caveat: Don’t do this on a first or second date. BUT, if you’ve been together for a while, that awkwardness no longer exists. Both parties realize the saved money could be spent on something else.
  8. Select and deliver your own flowers.  There is something about the personal human touch and personal attention that says…”I LOVE YOU”, without saying a word.  Calling the florist and ordering flowers is less personal AND  more expensive than the grocery store or the farmer’s market. So take a few moments to personally select flowers and personally deliver them yourself.  Then enjoy the smile you receive!
  9. Break with Tradition! Choose a different date.  Everyone celebrates “love” on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, but why not consider celebrating your love on another day, perhaps the following day. Restaurants, flowers, and cards are all significantly less expensive. You can avoid the crowds, too.
  10. Express your love in a letter. Everyone has a sheet of paper and a pen. Take a few minutes and put your romantic thoughts down on paper. It’s free, and you’ll score big points.
  11. Give each other a massage. Pick the music and the massage oils. Light a few candles and turn on some music. Let your fingers do the talking.
  12. Make your own card. There’s no law that states you have to support Hallmark by purchasing a card that costs $4.99. They usually end up in the trash anyway. Make a card this year. It will be remembered forever.
  13. Plan a breakfast date at a restaurant. It’s the most important meal of the day, and the least expensive. Why not go out for breakfast instead of dinner this year? Lunch is another option.
  14. Try a home-made gift. If you want a ton a great home-made gifts ideas, click here. Make a scrapbook. Create a CD of his favorite songs. It’s the thought that counts.
  15. Set a budget and brainstorm. Sit down together and determine how much you’re willing to spend. See how many ideas you can list that stay within the budget constraint.

Love doesn’t require money. Try these 15 low-cost ways to show your loved one how much you care on a regular basis. Keep adding to this list and compile more inexpensive ideas that will thrill your significant other. Financial challenges shouldn’t overshadow the celebration of your love.  All that is required is a little planning and creativity.  Love always wins!

Whatever the reasons behind it, as women, we worry about managing our money, about making ends meet, paying the bills planning for retirement, and giving our children or loved ones what we believe they need.

Not having enough money to do the things that we think will make us happy can create a lot of resentment on our part, create unhappiness and stress.

If you are the only or main bread winner in your home, the burden is even bigger.

The fact remains that we need money to do things we love, buy the things we need, as well as the things we want. But how much stress do we put on ourselves to obtain the things we want or believe we must have to make us happy? The answer is too much stress.

Debt Relief Solutions – 5 Tips to Get Yourself Out Of Debt!

debt-relief-solutionsIf you are feeling stressed and tense because of debt, there are debt relief solutions that can help. Being in debt is a problem that happens to nearly everyone at some point. Why?

Because the world we live in encourages an “I need it now” attitude and lines of credit are available just for the asking. Before you know it, you may have gotten yourself “entrapped, enslaved and overextended” by debt.

Unexpected Life Changes Can Plunge You Into Debt

Sudden changes in circumstances can also catapult you into debt. Perhaps you lost your job, you got divorced, or experienced some other medical or natural emergency that dramatically changed your situation and plunged you into overwhelming debt. Don’t despair.

No matter how high the mountain appears, there are debt relief solutions to help you climb it one step at a time, one day at a time. With a good get out of debt plan you can successfully pull yourself out of the metaphorical hole you may find yourself in.

Use these 5 practical get out of debt tips to tackle your debt and chop it down to a much more manageable and stress-free size.

1. Avoid Creating Debt.

If you only buy what you can afford you’ll be able to avoid the snare of debt altogether from this point forward. One of the best credit card debt solutions you can implement is to cut up your credit card. That way, you won’t be able to use it to accumulate more debt.

Rather than splurging on the latest blackberry model or on a fancy piece of jewelry , just wait and save up for it. Self discipline is an important step in making debt relief solutions work effectively for you.

The best way to get help with credit card debt and feel the soothing relief of being debt free is to change in your mindset. Make the switch from ” I need it now” which only creates more debt, to “I’ll enjoy it more when I have the money”, which helps you avoid debt.

2. Start From the Bottom Up.

debt-relief-solutions2I am using several debt relief solutions to get out of debt, but the one that is working best for me is paying off the lowest balance first.

I have two credit cards with a balance of less than $7000 total, so paying off credit card debt and getting that out of the way within 12 months will give me an immense feeling of accomplishmentAlso, once I eliminate those 2 monthly payments completely, I will save on interest charges and I plan to put that money towards paying off student loans or use it to pay off my mortgage early.

3. Pay Off Highest Interest Debts First.

Another good strategy when it comes to debt relief solutions is to prioritize bills by interest rate and pay off the highest interest debts first. This will save you a lot of money. Why?

Because often, the high interest is what can keep you “enslaved” by debt longer. A good credit card settlement plan is to take out the higher interest cards and pay them off first. You’ll feel a great sense of progress when you can cross that payment off your monthly payment list.

4. Merge & Consolidate.

I don’t know about you, but one of the most stressful aspects of being in debt is the constant reminders and notices in my box from different creditors. The best way to fight back is to consolidate your debt. Discuss your debt consolidation and reduction options with your bank and see if they offer any debt relief solutions.

5. Switch To Cash & Debit Payments Only

debt-relief-solutions3All the best debt relief services will tell you that using cash or debit cards payments is the most effective way to get out of debt FAST! If you keep using your credit cards, you will only be keeping yourself in debt. Instead of getting out of the metaphorical debt-hole you are in, you will only be digging it wider and deeper.

Paying with cash not only helps you get your debt burden down but it also helps you to develop new spending habits which are essential to help you get out of debt and STAY out of debt once and for all.

DIY Financial Resources To Help You Eliminate Debt

No one wants to loose their job. No one welcomes a medical or natural disaster. No one looks forward to the death of a loved one or a divorce which can mess up whatever budget you have set up. But the fact is, all these things happen whether we want it or not, and they can cause financial ruin.

If you are feeling stressed and tense because of debt, here is you chance to get your hands on debt relief solutions that can help.

Now is the time to take a pro-active approach to your finances and eliminate the crippling stress of debt.

The DIY financial resources below are excellent reference sources for everyday life and for becoming financially fit. I highly recommend them.

5 Ideas For Building A Rock Solid Get Out Of Debt Plan

get-out-of-debt-plan2Most women who face mountains of debt are looking for a doable get out of debt plan!

That may be easier said than done. Why?

Because, regardless of where you live, the global economic crisis has likely affected you in one way or the other.

The costs of living keep rising and making ends meet is steadily becoming more and more of a challenge.

Consider these 5 ideas for building a rock-solid get out of debt plan.

1. Develop Multiple Streams of Income.

Your main stream of income is probably sufficient to sustain your family and cover monthly bills. But in addition to income to cover current living expenses, you are also going to need money to pay off your debts.

A fundamental part of your get out of debt plan must therefore be a strategy to develop additional streams of income. You can then direct all income from your secondary income sources toward paying off your debts.

2. Build An Emergency Expense Fund.

Your get out of debt plan should include having an emergency expense fund. Even small deposits can add up to something big before you know it. Life is full of unexpected events and emergencies, and having an emergency fund to tap into can make all the difference between “financial survival” and relapsing back into additional debt.

Even if you can only afford $10 or $25 at a time, over the long run this really adds up and can keep you from accumulating additional debt during an emergency.

3. Expand Your Skills

get-out-of-debt-plan5We live in a fast paced world where one set of skills that are in demand today can easily be outdated by tomorrow.

You should always be on the look out for opportunities to improve your current skill set and even look for ways to develop completely new skills. This keeps you ahead of the game by providing back up career opportunities and can solidify your get out of debt plan.

Imagine what would happen if your suddenly lost your job and your main source of income disappeared. That could have catastrophic consequences for your financial health. You’ll be scrambling if something unexpected happens.

Let’s face it, in our world if “job security” was an animal, it would be at the top of the “endangered species” list. So don’t pigeon hole yourself into one set career. Constantly looking for ways to expand your skills and career possibilities is a smart way to strengthen your get out of debt strategy.

4. Build A Network And Maintain Good Relationships.

It’s never a good idea to burn your bridges or close any doors hastily, since you never know who may be able to help you progress with your get out of debt plan. I have received valuable help and leads from neighbors, old friends, and family members. I even received help securing clients from my spiritual family. So remain open and make contacts wherever you can.

Be generous in helping others and others will be generous in helping you. You meet people from all walks of life on a daily basis, and you never know what kind of friendship you can develop, and how that person may be able to help you out in the future. So be on the alert for opportunities to be helpful and build good relationships with others. The good will always come back to you double, or triple fold.

5. Write Out Your Plans.

get-out-of-debt-plan3I don’t know about you, but I like to write things down. My mothers says I always have pen and paper in my hands. When it comes to designing your get out of debt plan, it’s vital to maintain a certain amount of organization in your plans. Writing everything down really helps a great deal.

I keep separate lists for my short term and long term financial goals.

I cross off goals as I meet them. I also keep a separate “achievement journal”, which helps me keeps a written reminder of my progress and keeps me motivated when I face set-backs or challenges. I would recommend you do the same.

Writing down the details of your get out of debt plan and keeping a record of your progress is the best way to stay on track.

Home Internet Business Ideas: 3 Simple Options For Passive Income Online

home-internet-businesses3If you are struggling financially and living paycheck to paycheck every month, home internet business ideas could be a solution for you.

Sure, you can take steps to minimize your overall living expenses, but finding ways to bring more money into the household should also be on your to-do list.

Making money online is simpler than you may think.

There is a lot opportunity with home internet businesses. In fact, building a passive income online could very well be your ticket to long-term passive income online! It does require work and dedication, and you may have to learn a few new skills, but earning money online is doable and it can be a good way to supplement your current income.

Here are 3 ideas for home internet businesses that can help you build passive income online:

1. Monetize Your Artistic Skills

If you’re a brilliant photographer, or if you always wanted to develop your photography skills, why not start an online stock photography home business?

You could monetize your artistic skills and put them to good use by selling stock photography online. This is another example of home internet businesses that is simple to launch.

In addition to good content, internet marketers are always looking for great stock photography to add to their websites.

Remember, a picture says one thousand words. Photos can often capture a thought or express a point that may be difficult to fully explain with words.

Focus on capturing images of scenes you think will sell well. You could then visually enhance the photos in Photoshop, if necessary, and place them for sale on websites like Fotolia.com or iStockPhotos.com. Even if sales are slow at first, don’t give up.

Remember, you’re building passive income! If you stick with it you will get rewarded with some nice checks month after month. Once you’ve built up an inventory of several dozen photos, sales will begin to pick up, and may eventually snowball into a sizeable passive online income.

2. Write Articles For Online Marketers

writing-for-moneyOne of the first things you will learn about the making money online is that you need good original content.

People go online to find information, and the internet marketers who provide the most helpful and most relevant information are the ones who have the best online income potential.

That means that internet marketers are in constant need of good articles and original content to post on the websites. If you love writing or can develop good writing skills, one of the best internet home businesses you can start is an article writing service.

You can earn $10 or more for each article, depending on the quality of your writing. And if you offer quick turn around and excellent customer services you will always have a constant flow of customers knocking at your door for more articles.

3. Become An Affiliate Marketer

This is one of my favorite models for home internet businesses.

Affiliate marketers promote other people’s products online for a commission. Basically you find a good product that you can get excited about and that (preferably) has worked for you, and promote in online. Each time you make a sale, you’ll be paid a commission.

Most entrepreneurs who choose this model for making passive income online, focus on promoting products through article marketing and email marketing campaigns, but there are several strategies you can quickly learn and master that will generate consistent online income.

The Possibilities Are Endless

home-business-for-moms (2)These are just three examples of home internet businesses that you can start to earn extra income from home.

There are many more possibilities.

In fact, you can turn any passion, knowledge or skill you have into a profitable online business.

Everyone knows something, and the internet allows you to tap into the global market place to help people from around the world who need the information and resources you can provide.

5 Get Out of Debt Tips For Financially Strapped Women

get-out-of-debt-tips2I don’t know about you, but I sometimes feel like I could use some get out of debt tips to pull myself out of the metaphorical hole of debt I find myself in.

You may be able to benefit from the 5 get out of debt tips I discovered, so I would like to share them with you.

1. Do NOT Buy What You Cannot Afford

This may sound logical, but it’s so easy to whip out a credit card and “buy on impulse”. It takes discipline and self control to remind yourself that you do not really need the item and neither can you afford it. We live in an “I want it now” age and when combined with a “would you like to charge that” commercial system, mountains of debt is the tragic result.

This year, I am determined to be more disciplined in my spending habits. Instead of splurging on gadgets that I don’t really need and fancy clothing that I cannot really afford, my goal is to just wait and save up for it.

2. Stop Trying To Impress Your Friends

One of the biggest challenges some women face when applying get out of debt tips is to resist the pressure to overspend when shopping with friends. It can be tempting to spend money just to impress friends or just to keep up with what your friends may expect of you.

Planning ahead and calculating a limit to your spending when going out with your friends can prove to be very beneficial. Better yet, try to go shopping only with those friends who are also careful with their money and who will encourage you to stick to your get out of debt goals.

3. Reduce Expenses Where Possible.

get-out-of-debt-tips5Most get out of debt tips include some form of sacrifice. Look for ways you can reduce your monthly expenses.

Are there ways you can cut back on grocery bills Can you cut your cable bill or get basic cable instead of all the movie channels?

There may also be room to reduce your utility bills.

The more expenses you can reduce each month, the more funds you will have available to put towards paying down your debt.

If you developed the habit of eating lunch at fast food restaurants every day, it may be time to prepare a brown bag. Not only will the lunch you prepare be more nutritious, it will save you money too.

Love going to the movies? Can you rent a DVD instead?

These are all personal sacrifices in your lifestyle that can go a long way in helping you get out of debt quickly.

4. Make An Organized Plan

If you are facing a landslide of debt, it can be overwhelming to decide where to start . How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. The same holds true when it comes to getting out of debt.

Start by making a clear overview of your anticipated personal cash flow over the next 24 months. Be honest, but also realistic and include every bit of income you expect to have, no matter how small. Next, make a list of all your debts that have to be paid as well as your regular monthly expenses. Make sure to make some allowance for unexpected or emergency situations.

Next, list your debts in order of priority. My credit card debt comes first, then my student loans, then my consumer loans. Decide what priority is best for you. Finally, set a target payoff date for each debt and allocate a proportional amount of money so that each debt receives the payment needed to comply with your payoff target date.

5. Communicate With Your Creditors.

get-out-of-debt-tips3One of the best get out of debt tips I discovered was the importance of staying in touch with your creditors. Not responding to creditor letters and phone calls can easily get interpreted as indifference on your part or as a blatant refusal to pay.

Any get out of debt plan will require communication in order to be successful. So instead of ignoring the calls or letters from creditors, its good to be proactive. Try visiting or calling each creditor and share your 24 month plan to pay off the debt you owe them in full. Then stick to your plan until you achieved the debt-free life you deserve!

The Number One Cause of Stress Among Women…

how-to-save-money-fast

Today I want to talk to you about the number one cause of stress among women – money.

The demands of our jobs and family life sometimes cause excess levels of stress, but the leading cause of stress is money. When we feel that we are not managing our money properly, stress levels tend to rise astronomically. Here are a few tips about stress-free money management.

Keep Regular

First, it is important to deal with money on a regular basis. Many people avoid thinking about their financial difficulties, and this can lead to even higher stress levels. By accepting the fact that you have to deal with money issues, it may be possible to begin lifting the burden of stress.

Set a Goal

Next, make a goal about your money. If you have debt that you would like to pay off, make it a goal to put a dent in your debt through the year. If you would like to save up for a down payment for a new home, you may wish to make that a goal. Motivation is a powerful tool that can help us gain the courage necessary to deal with our monetary issues.

Be Realistic

Once you feel comfortable making decisions about your financial situation, it is important to sit down and be realistic about what you can do. Having goals is a wonderful step, but these goals must be attainable for them to be effective at reducing stress. If you do not have enough money coming in to meet your goals, you may need to reevaluate them.

You may also need to make some tough decisions about how you spend your money. While many of us enjoy going to the local coffee shop, we may not be able to afford spending five dollars every day on chilled coffee. Small changes add up over time, and making a few difficult decisions to cut back on spending may be enough to significantly reduce money stress levels.

Fortunately, reducing our stress in relation to financial issues often helps us spend less money. By being proactive and reducing how stressed money makes us feel, it’s definitely possible to spend less while reaping the benefits of a stress-resilient life.

Whatever your financial state is, take solace in the fact that there are solutions available to help you get out of debt and to ensure that your debt level does not continue to rise.
